Made by the Jeannette glass company from 1931 to 1935 Floral depression glass features a prominent Poinsettia blossom as the theme. Some call this pattern Poinsettia for it’s look.

Floral was made in crystal, amber, green, pink, red yellow and blue. Pink and green as with most depression glass are the items in demand. There is a following of collectors looking for the delphite blue items for this reason the delphite Floral brings top prices.

English Hobnail is one of those depression patterns that was made forever. The Westmoreland Glass Company produced English Hobnail from the 1920′s until the 1970′s. A wide variety of colors were made as well, amber, cobalt, blue, turquoise blue, pink,  green, black, amber and red. There are many reproductions of the red, amber and pink so be aware.

Some new collectors confuse English Hobnail with Hocking’s Miss America so learn your patterns before investing.

Miss America, otherwise known as the “Diamond” pattern for it’s distinctive diamond cut appearance was made by the Hocking Glass Company from 1933 to 1936. It came in a variety or colors including crystal, pink ,green, light blue, dark blue and amber. Miss America is a depression glass pattern that collectors really seem to love.

It’s important to note that Miss America can be confused with Westmoreland’s English Hobnail pattern by new collectors. Miss America has much sharper edges than English Hobnail.

Another important item to note is that starting in th mid 1970′s several items of Miss America have been reproduced. These reproductions include the butter dish, slat shakers and tumblers.

It always pays to learn as much as you can before startig a collection!

A similar pattern to Doric, Doric and Pansy was also made by the Jeannette Glass Company. Only made from 1937 to 1939 Doric and Pansy came in crystal, pink and ultramarine blue. The ultramarine varies widely in color from green to blue. The more towards green the lower the value of the item.

It’s interesting to note that Doric and Pansy also came in children’s dishes. The children’s sets were called “Pretty Polly Party Dishes”.  A cup and saucer, plate, sugar and creamer make up the desireable children’s set.
