Sandwich

Sandwich pattern depression glass was manufactured by the Indiana Glass company from the 1920’s until the 1980’s. A very collectable pattern it has a large following. Sandwich is a depression glass pattern that has lasted well past the depression era. It’s a timeless design that really gets collectors attention.

Made in many colors some had different production years as listed below;

  • Amber: late 1920’s to 1980’s
  • Crystal: late 1920’s till present
  • Teal Blue: 1950’s till 1980’s
  • Milk White: Mid 1950’s
  • Red: 1933 and again from 1969-1970’s (some of the 1933 items are marked for the Chicago World’s Fair)
  • Smokey Blue: 1976-1977
  • Pink: 1920’s-1930’s
  • Green: 1920’s-1930’s

    • As you can see there are many different colors and periods to choose from. It’s a pattern that for the most part remains affordable.

    Depression Glass Price Guides

    Any collector of Antique Depression Glass would be lost without a good price and pattern identification guide. With so many patterns and colors I’d be lost with out them. I keep several in my car when I’m out buying. Keep in mind so called “book” values are just that, the true value is what someone is willing to pay. That’s why they’re called price “guides”. I do find that the photos and pattern descriptions are huge help when I come across something new. The books written by Gene Florence are my favorites.

    Parrot

    Parrot depression glass was made by the Federal Glass Company between 1931 and 1932. Parrot was made in green and amber. The amber pieces have sky rocketed in value in the past few years. Hot plates have been very strong in value. Very few green 80 ounce pitchers are known to exist and the values are in the thousands of dollars if you are lucky enough to find one. The more common plates and bowls are more affordable for the collector who is just starting out.

    Jubilee

    Jubilee depresion glass was manufactured by the Lancaster Glass Comapny of Lanacster Ohio in during the 1930’s. It was made in Topaz and Pink. I don’t see this pattern very much but it does have a strong following of collectors. The Lancaster Glass Company is still in business today unlike many of the other companies that manufactured depression glass. Today they mostly make specialty lighting glass.
